Wigging Out

Why Your Wig is Literally Your Best Friend

Let’s be honest, a good wig will save your whole life, in my opinion.

There’s a lot of mixed opinions out there about wigs. Some people say that wigs are worn because of insecurity, but honestly, that’s where they get it wrong. Wigs can be worn for so many reasons by both men and women and it doesn’t always have to do with confidence.

As for me? I just love switching it up. I love rocking different colors without having to bleach and damage my real hair.
And let’s be real, who has time to brush their hair just to make it to the bus stop or school for your kids early in the morning?
Throwing on a wig can be a last-minute lifesaver!

I absolutely love my short natural hair and it's beautiful, okay! but sometimes, I want "long hair, don’t care" kind of day. And I know a lot of you feel the same way.

Why People Wig Up

  • Bad hair day

  • Need to run quick errands

  • Heading out on vacation

  • Letting your natural hair rest and heal

Wigs step in like the MVPs they are.
And it goes even deeper than that.
Many people living with scalp conditions like alopecia, eczema of the scalp, thinning hair, side effects from cancer treatments, or simply natural balding, find that wigs help them feel good again and just as confident with or without them.
Wearing a wig is sometimes about fun, sometimes about necessity, but always about feeling your best.

Wigs have been holding it down for centuries — from Cleopatra rocking her sleek black bobs to your aunty in her Sunday best "unit."

Here’s the thing:
Wigs aren’t just hair.
They are a lifestyle.

They’re protection, transformation, and pure main character energy — all bundled up and ready to slay for the day.

Some days, your natural hair just says, "No."
And that’s okay — because your wig says, "Yes, Queen and King!"

And let’s clear this up right now: Just because you're wearing a wig doesn't mean you're neglecting your real hair underneath.

Personally, I make sure my scalp is nourished and protected using Herbs & Oils' Last Call Finishing Oil and Tonic Spray.
These products help keep my scalp hydrated, encourage healthy hair growth, and protect my natural hair even when it’s tucked away under a unit.
I also choose breathable wig caps and lightweight wigs so my scalp can breathe and thrive — no suffocating my edges over here!

Wig care, is definitely a thing y’all, because your unit deserves the love too! One of my absolute faves from HNO is The Tonic Spray. Listen, this spray does it all—detangles like a dream, adds moisture without weighing the hair down, AND works as a heat protectant when you're styling. Whether your wig is synthetic or human hair, The Tonic keeps it soft, manageable, and looking fresh like it just came out the salon. I always tell people, treat your wig like your crown—and with our sulfate-free shampoos, nourishing conditioners, and this all-in-one spray, it’s easy to keep that crown in tip-top shape. Trust me, your wig will thank you!

Types of Wig Friends

  • The Ride or Die:
That one wig that looks good no matter what. She's been washed a dozen times and still shows up better than half the people you know.

  • The Insta Baddie:
She’s synthetic, she’s shiny, she photographs like a dream. She might not survive a humid day, but who cares? You're still serving looks.

  • The Luxury Queen:
100% human hair, lace so melted it looks like it grew from your own scalp. Mortgage payment who?

  • The Experiment:
That hot pink bob you bought at 2 AM when life was life-ing. No regrets.

Wig Wisdom You Need

  • Always wash, condition, and oil your natural hair before putting on any wig.

  • Secure that lace — whether you’re rocking a glueless install or melting it down.

  • Invest in a good, breathable wig cap.

  • Name your wigs. (Trust me, it makes life more entertaining.)

  • Store them properly — no balled-up wigs stuffed in the closet! Show them the respect they deserve.

Wigs are here to boost your mood, protect your crown, and let you be whoever you want to be whenever you want to be them.

So whether you’re switching it up for the weekend, running errands, or just feeling yourself, remember:

Your wig isn’t just a style. It’s a whole lifestyle.

Wig on, Queen and King. 👑

Stay Crowned!
